LIPSYNC, SCAN/LOOK/EXPRESS comprise a series of interactive frame buffer animations based on the human face.  These works explored a new form of digital portraiture, the use of code to manipulate a character in real time, giving the computer a face.

LOOK  Digital portrait of the artist Luis Frangella. The 25 images, originally 35mm transparencies, depict head movement. The frame buffer animation allowed manipulation via head tracking or joystick.

SCAN  Digital Portrait of Raleigh Perkins.  35mm transparencies depict eye movement in response to manipulation via eye-tracking or joystick.

EXPRESS  Digital Portrait of artist and gallerist Pat Hearn.  25 images selected from digital video animated to generate seven expressions in response to user input.
